I hope you have all had a fantastic summer and are ready for the year ahead in Year 2.
Book bags should be brought into school everyday and reading books will be changed twice a week. It is important that children read at home each night and parents sign the reading record. A comment detailing their enjoyment and successes/difficulties would also be very helpful. After reading, you could talk to your child about what they have read; retelling the story, talking about characters or discussing the information they have learned.
Homework will be given out on a Friday which children will need to complete and bring back to school for the following Tuesday. All homework is usually in the children’s homework diaries or reading diaries.
Children will be given spellings as part of their homework on a Friday, to be tested on the following Friday. Spellings will be bold and underlined within a sentence. Children will only be tested on the word, however they will be asked to write the word within a sentence of their own during the test, in order to help the children put those words into context. Spellings will be taken from our Letters and Sounds lessons throughout the week.
PE is on a Monday and PE kits will need to be in school each week. Children are also required to wear sandshoes during PE.
